Civic map projects with Petition, Build, and Dedication stages, one shared build slot, and landmark outcomes.

Public Works

Public Works are civic projects that permanently transform the farm map. Each project moves through Petition, Build, and Dedication, resulting in a landmark, story moment, and in some cases an inspector shortcut.

Stages
Petition, Build, Dedication
Build capacity
One Public Work Build at a time across the farm
Build duration
From 5 minutes to 24 hours
Cost scaling
Community-tested formula with a 0.85-1.10 offer-fixed adjustment
Dedication
Two immediate identities with equal economic outcomes

Stages

Stage Activity Timing and commitment
Petition Chosen materials are contributed up to each displayed ceiling. Untimed; contributions remain credited until the Petition is complete.
Build Approve Plans begins construction after the Petition is complete. The timed Build occupies the farm's single Public Work construction slot.
Dedication One of two landmark identities is selected after the Build. Immediate art, story, caption, or shortcut selection with equal economy.

Petitions connect ordinary production and crafting to a named landmark. Materials can be contributed across multiple Workdays, and the completed Petition opens the project's Build stage. Once a Build begins, another Public Work's Build waits for the shared construction slot.

Roadmap

Work Gate Petition material examples Landmark result
Pondworks L8 Debris, Wood, and Plank Bundles Water Works, Pond Island, and Pip's area
Bridge to Nowhere L14 Planks and toll-cheese Peninsula expansion and visitor-route scenery
Beacon L16 Repair and polish materials, including Beacon Polish when listed Night art, Night Ledger, and after-dusk ambience
Canopy Annex L25 Ladder and safety-rail materials Canopy presentation and three visual slots
Acorn Space Program L35 Blueprint, ignition work, and Rocket Post Aerial Dispatch presentation and finale

The material names in the roadmap identify the kinds of goods associated with each project. Each Public Work inspector displays the active requirements and quantities. Pondworks, the first major project, concludes with either Lily Landing or Mill Memorial.

Costs and timing

Community testing approximates a displayed Public Work cost as rounded base cost x (1 + 0.18 x completed Works) x catch-up adjustment. The catch-up adjustment ranges from 0.85 to 1.10 and is fixed when the offer appears. The displayed inspector cost remains the figure charged for that project.

Build durations range from 5 minutes to 24 hours. A Build becomes eligible for Farm Bucks timer finishing after at least 60 seconds and 10% of its original duration have elapsed; its Petition remains untimed. Community pacing places many midgame Works around 4-12 hours of ordinary play and later Works around 1-3 days, depending on production, stock, and open Orders.

History

Public Works were formerly called District Projects. Earlier versions associated some projects with auras, adjacency capacity, build buffs, route crews, or pose bonuses. The current system preserves these ideas in historical text and decorative presentation while Public Works retain their landmark, story, and navigation roles.
