The shown-resource process for buildings and upgrades, alongside the distinct timed Build stage of Public Works.

Construction

Construction is the process through which ordinary buildings and upgrades are established after their displayed soft-resource costs are committed. The building inspector records any visible timer, named effect, and prerequisite, while Public Works use their separate Petition, Build, and Dedication sequence.

Ordinary construction

Ordinary construction covers new structures and building upgrades. Their current catalog entries identify the resources committed, the resulting effect, any visible duration, and the prerequisite for beginning work.

Public Work Builds

Public Works proceed from Petition to Build to Dedication. Petition donations are untimed, and Approve Plans begins the displayed Build timer after the Petition is complete. Only one Public Work Build operates globally at a time; durations range from 5 minutes to 24 hours. Later listed Work costs follow a community-tested approximate formula with an adjustment factor from 0.85 to 1.10.

Timer finishing

A qualifying started construction or Public Work Build timer can be finished with Farm Bucks after both 60 seconds and 10% of the original duration have elapsed. The finish price is max(1, ceil(remaining seconds / 300)). The Petition stage is not a finishable timer.
